Attorney Joe Markey, a highly skilled legal professional renowned for his expertise in complex criminal defense, construction accidents, and workers’ compensation cases. With a diverse legal background, he also excels in representing clients in municipal government matters.
Joe Markey's personal connection to workplace accidents runs deep, shaped by his upbringing in a union household where his father worked for the MBTA, and his mother was a legal secretary. His profound understanding of the challenges faced by working families became even more pronounced when his father experienced a severe workplace accident during Joe’s middle school years. Witnessing the impact of this incident, including surgery and a prolonged absence from work, Joe brings firsthand knowledge and compassion to his legal practice, striving to secure the best outcomes for his clients.
Before founding his own firm, Attorney Markey spent four years at a leading Boston litigation firm. Prior to private practice, he served as a 3:03 Prosecutor with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office in Newton, Massachusetts. In this role, he gained substantial trial experience, representing the Commonwealth in various district court trials. Joe Markey's commitment to public service is further underscored by his role as the Chairman of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Assoc. Advisory Board.
Engaged in community service, Joe currently serves as Lynnfield’s Town Moderator, overseeing the approval of the town’s annual budget at Annual and Special Town Meetings. He played a crucial role in appointing citizens to the Finance Committee, responsible for reviewing the proposed annual town budget. Before becoming the Town Moderator, Joe made history as the youngest elected Lynnfield Housing Commissioner from 2014-2019.
An alumnus of Merrimack College, Joe Markey earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management. Alongside pursuing his Juris Doctor degree, he actively managed and consulted on notable congressional, state-wide, and county elections in Massachusetts. His key role in Senator Ed Markey’s 2013 Senatorial race stands out as a significant achievement.
Extending his commitment beyond the legal arena, Joe Markey serves on the Boston Italian Home for Children Anniversary Board and coaches High School Hockey in the Town of Wakefield during the Winter. His multifaceted background, personal experiences, and dedication to public service make Attorney Joe Markey a standout advocate for both his clients and the community he serves.
